My tooth aches
Tooth
ache is one of the worst, suddenly presented, nuisances during summer
vacation. A tooth ache is very difficult to ignore, and that’s why you
should know exactly how to face it, as the chance of having a friend
dentist with you available, is most infrequent!
What should
your immediate actions be?
Avoid medication friends willingly hand you over, and make your way
to the nearest drugstore. Ask for an anti-inflammatory painkiller, after
informing the pharmacist about any other medication you had. This way
you make sure any possibility of interaction between substances is avoided.
• The first dose of medicine should be the most powerful one, for a
more effective result.
In order
not to spoil your vacation:
Even if the pain passes by after having the first sedative, you should
have the medication for 2-3 days, so that you limit the possibility
of extending the inflammation. Have the painkiller even when you feel
eased and not only when the pain is acute. In the meanwhile avoid plunges
in big depth (e.g. 4-5 meters), as inflammation might be worsen (During
this phase - and in certain inflammations – there is a possibility of
alleviating pain, using frozen water or even ice cubes).
If however, after
a couple of days, and despite of having painkillers, the pain insists
and there is a swelling (characteristic symptom of abscess), perhaps
you need course of antibiotics. Once again you should consult a pharmacist
for avoiding any chance of pharmaceutical allergy. When the swelling
is in initial stages, you may ease the pain, by having hot water, hot
chamomile or hot saltwater put in your mouth If the inflammation is
extended or if you experience fever, difficulty in breathing and feel
exhausted, you should visit a doctor immediately.
As soon as you return from your vacation, visit your dentist, even if
you ache no more. Experts point out that each acute inflammation, are
transformed into a permanent one and have the tendency of extending
silently. That’s why its primary cause should be faced effectively.
I struck
in my tooth
The tooth was cracked:
If the fracture is big and reaches up to the nerve, you will feel intense
pain, and thus have as a precaution an anti-inflammatory painkiller.
Immediately visit the nearest dentist.
The tooth
was shaken:
If the tooth has moved but is not completely out of position (out of
the mouth), try placing it back to its original position by hand. Have
an anti-inflammatory painkiller and visit the dentist.
The tooth
falls of the mouth:
If the tooth falls out of the mouth, on dirt, wash it good and place
it in saline water (or milk or fresh water or even inside your mouth,
if you do not have any one of the other) and visit the doctor immediately.
If the tooth has come out of the mouth, but is clean, wash it and place
it again in his place, until you visit the doctor.
Jaw injury:
If the blow was so powerful so that the jawbone was shifted, then at
that exact moment try placing the jawbone softly back in its place,
have a powerful painkiller, shut the mouth, and do not talk, until you
reach the hospital.
